It is worthwhile becoming a member of the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). NDSS provides Commonwealth Government subsidised blood testing strips and free needles and syringes for insulin. It is an initiative of the Australian Government and is administered by Diabetes Australia. NDSS provide an information package and membership card once you join. The CDE or a doctor can register you with the NDSS. Ring 1300 136 588 from anywhere in Australia for a replacement card if you have lost yours.
If you need to start insulin or other injectable diabetes medication then you will need a new form signed and a new card.
